Eastern Mebon is a 10th-century Hindu temple built by King Rajendravarman II, dedicated to the god Shiva. The temple was originally constructed on an artificial island in the now-dry East Baray reservoir, but the temple still stands today. Eastern Mebon features a five-tiered pyramid structure, with its most distinctive features being the five brick towers on the corners and central platform, as well as life-sized elephant sculptures at the four corners of the base. These well-preserved stone elephants are rare three-dimensional sculptures in Angkor architecture. The brick towers feature exquisite stucco decorations and lintel carvings, showcasing the superb craftsmanship of Khmer art.
Boeng Mealea Temple is a beautiful and natural place to explore. It’s not as crowded as Angkor Wat because it’s a bit far from the city, which makes it peaceful and relaxing. If you plan to visit Phnom Kulen, I highly recommend stopping by here as well. It’s definitely worth it!

アンコールワットに加えて立ち寄ったベンメリア遺跡でしたが、思った以上に壮大でゲームや映画の世界を彷彿とさせる遺跡でした。\n\n週末に行ったこともあり、地元の子供たちが楽しそうに遊んでいる姿も見れて微笑ましかったです。
平日の15時ごろに訪れました。\nツアー客もほとんどおらず、静かでとても神秘的な雰囲気。崩れた石の間からガジュマルの木の根が伸び、まるで「天空の城ラピュタ」の世界のようでした。\n修復されていない遺跡なので、10月末は雨季でしたので、さらに苔に覆われて、自然と遺跡が一体になった姿が見られます。\n足元は少し不安定ですが、探検気分を味わえて楽しいです。\n\nシェムリアップ中心部からは車で約1時間半。\n午後は観光客が少なく、ゆっくり写真を撮るならこの時間帯がおすすめです。
ジブリの世界にいるようなとても素敵な遺跡でした。\n迫力がすごいので15ヶ所遺跡巡りをしましたが1番オススメです
