I traveled here on a university trip, and i have to say it was so uniquely interesting. If you are interested in bird life, there is abundant amount of birds along the shore. The team there are really trying to make a difference in protecting this beautiful area, and any amount of funding is important to help with this regrowth plan.

This place has a very good environment surrounded, by good services and acceptable prices. If you are looking for a place to relax, meditate and plant the mangrove forests. This Trapeang Sankea Ecotourism is very highly recommended. We can also enjoy the views by travelling by boat rental, which services are provided by the community. You can also plant the mangrove in the protected area of the community. Your visit is much appreciated for contributing to improving the local livelihood.

Beautiful place but a bit backwards with some of their activities. We did the boat tour through the mangroves which was a really beautiful ride. We paid a couple dollars to plant mangrove seedlings while on the boat tour, but the seedlings are cased in a small black plastic bag and they just plant the whole thing, what is the point of planting anything if you're just constantly burying plastic in the ground?!?!? I tried to ask if the bags were biodegradable - our tuktuk tour guide said "the tree will destroy the plastic, it's ok." Doubtful. Looks like regular plastic to me, not biodegradable. And as someone else mentioned, there is garbage scattered throughout some of the mangrove, mostly the area closer to the ocean - I imagine it's difficult to keep up with the cleanup. Perhaps they are already doing beach cleanups, but if not, they should. if this is truly an initiative with the right intentions, they should educate locals helping to plant trees about not putting plastic directly in the ground.

We were very disappointed with our experience. The project had been recommended to me by a friend, but perhaps it had fallen into disrepair since then. We arrived and the place was virtually deserted, everything boarded up and only one or two people around. No one was available to take us on a boat tour and the wooden boardwalk was rotting and unstable. Made me wonder whether the community are really involved or if this was just a project initiated by outsiders as it doesn’t seem to be maintained. Not worth the time or cost to get there. We visited in June 2024 so perhaps it was off season but still super underwhelming

It's hard to call this an ecotourism spot when you walk 2 minutes into the mangroves and see an endless amount of trash. They have probably done more damage to the environment with the waste created by this project than whatever mangrove trees they plant. Would recommend not contributing to this disaster.
